Couch to Half Marathon App Reviews

Audio

Just downloaded this. Clicked to listen to intro video and theres no audio! I thought this would be an active app that I put on when I go run, but no, it just shows a weekly schedule I wasted 1.99!!!

Unsubstantial Outdated and Broken Product

Created in 2012 outdated and broken. The app has no interactive features and looks to be created based on info found through a few Google searches. The audio on the videos does not work and it is a total waste. I didnt realize that products like this were allowed on the marketplace and I hate that I was mislead.

Couch to half

Although I have not completed my half marathon I am a few weeks into the program- feeling great an loving it. The program is easy to follow and the videos are awesome!

Awesome app

What a fantastic app. This has everything you need to get yourself up and running and ready for a half marathon. Weekly schedules are very easy to follow, the videos for each week overall and core workout demonstrations are excellent to show exactly what each exercise looks like, and these all really work together for great motivation. There are nutrition tips, running tips, motivational quotes which alone would be well worth the price of the app. If you are working towards a half marathon this is the app for you!

Great big thumbs down!!!

Although I agree with the previous rater that the nutrition and other info seems good. This should definitely not be called couch to 1/2 marathon. Anyone who gets off the couch (aka a beginner) and attempts to run 2 miles on Tuesday and by Sunday run 3.2 miles with no instruction is guaranteed failure or injury. This transition should take weeks of walk/run intervals and thats what I need and thought I was getting. The title is misleading. There is an after-thought bonus 5k/10k spread sheet but with all of the other step by step voice over apps out there, this just doesnt cut it. Purchase regretted.

Good App

Very user friendly, easy to understand, and some added inspiration & motivation along the way. Exactly what I was looking for as I prepare for a half marathon.

Good try....

But too simplified for most folks. Those that are couch creatures truly CANT run the distances youre proposing in the short amount of time youre putting forth. Reality has to set in at some point....slow build up. We got a nation of fatties if you havent noticed. Youre doing right by this though ;)

Horrible app, wish I didnt pay for it

ThiS is NOT for starting out runners... This is for advanced runners that can already run 3 miles wittout issues. Which, if they knew anything.. 3 miles is actually the HaRDEST mile marker to overcome. DONT BUY!!! waste of $$

Audio doesnt work, just started

First of all.. I just purchased the app and the audio to the videos do not even work. Lame... How am I supposed to do the program without those. Second of all... I just started working out again (never been a consistent person who works out which definitely puts me as a contender for having been a couch potato) and I can barely do a preset treadmill program for 30 minutes.. So this app will eventually work when I want to go from "was just able to walk/run mile, lets progress to 1.5" . Ill give it a try but definitely would not recommend this app. Just have them use my fitness pal and look up training for a half on google for free. (which is what I wish I would have done) :(

Just Completed My First Half!

I just completed my first half marathon thanks to Trish and her app. I thought the workouts were realistic and do-able. I got nervous when the Sunday runs increased a mile each week but I was AMAZED when I could do it, no problem. When I started the program I was sort of new to running, but I admit was able to run 3 miles prior to starting this program. I loved that if I had a question about anything I could email Trish and she would respond within 24 hours. I was thrilled when I finished my race in 2:08 and did not walk a single step! Thank you Trish. I highly recommend this app. I love that the plan is realistic.

Love it!!

I think its awesome. No problems, and Im progressing great!

Not for beginner . The name of the app is totally misleading

This is not a couch to half marathon app but a 5k to marathon app! I am a total beginner and I am being ask to run 3 miles while I cant even run one mile. There is no music available for training but just a calendar with the workout to do and when. I just started with interval (walk/run) and the schedule does not even mention that - just run 3 miles... Yeah right... Not as a beginner! I wish I hadnt bought this app. Totally useless. If you are a true beginner like me, go check out some other apps that are designed for us, beginners. Some are much better designed with interval training. I may be able to use it in 3 month from now but for now, its a total waste of my money.

More than worth purchasing!

If you can already run a 5K and want to continue improving your running or train for a 1/2 marathon then this is the perfect app. The app is easy to use and Trainer Trish is very motivational, and is also available on twitter to give you extra motivation and help. Dont get me wrong though, the app is great and it provides a great running plan that increases the mileage a little each week but it all comes down to you as an individual and how much time and effort you want to put forward. I am currently on week four and i am already noticing a big improvement in my running, and I am starting to enjoy running but I am putting in the time and effort and following the plan Trish laid out for us. This app is definitely worth purchasing, and I am very glad that I did. Trainer Trish WILL make a good runner out of you if you commit to the program. :)

Fantastic app

This is a great app! You can google for free training plans, but this offers things those cant give you. It tells you when to run, when to cross train, when to do core workouts (and even has instructional videos for core workouts), motivational quotes and a video to kick off each week. Its definitely more motivating than a piece of paper that tells you to run. The 12 week plan is more attainable than most 10 wk plans. If you get into the plan and realize you were more couch than half marathon, it includes 5k and 10k plans to build you up to start the half training program. Highly recommended!

A BS app

Nothing like the interactive cto5k and cto10k apps. Just has PDFs and workout videos with bad sound. Google run schedules instead. Worth 99¢ maybe. .49¢ app!!

Awesome app

If you have run 5ks and are ready for your first half marathon this app is great. I use to just run based on how I feel and never improved that way. I am in my third week of the program and have already seen my mile split times improve dramatically just by following the program. Trish is great at letting you know what to expect and the best thing is if you have a question simply email her and she gets back in touch within a day. I havent had any issues with the videos everything has worked great and now there are programs for 5k and 10k as well for those who find the half marathon to challenging. Love the app looking forward to finishing my first half marathon.

Solid program, amazing coaching.

This app is a different kind of interactive; the trainer behind the app is actually a real person. I have emailed and tweeted Trish about various training questions and I always get a response within a day. That sort of contact and interaction is not only encouraging, but motivating and reassuring, like having my own personal trainer and coach at the same time. With this app I feel more confident and capable as a runner and to me that is priceless.

Wasted Money

I wish I had read the reviews instead of just looking at the rating. This is not my idea of an interactive app. It will not track runs, log your nutrition or even provide the personalized training it claims. What it does do is to compile pdfs of information available free from the Internet into an app that costs money. Very disappointing!!!

Not happy

Not happy at all, wish apple can refund me! Took me 5min to read and delete it! :..(

Not Thrilled

This basically follows Hal Higdons half marathon training (which is free) with the addition of a very short Ab workout. Though I think Trish tries very hard her constant use of the word um I found distracting. Would also have been nice since it was a paid app to have it more professional. I sent 3 emails and did not receive a response though it is stated you could email and would get responses. My first one was sent a month ago. I do not have Twitter, so Im not sure if you get responses from Trish if you message her there. I have just deleted the ap as I already had Hals.
